One of the simple pleasures of working in this business for so long is the pre-visualation of an image in my mind’s eye, then going about the proper procedure to execute it all. When other factors cooperate (weather, the subject, etc.) to seal such an assignment, it’s all just amazingly fun. Anything to do with aviation or heavy industry always offers the opportunity for me to learn something new. I cherish the brief interaction with flight crew mechanics, pilots, train engineers, cargo ship captains and the like. Touring Air Force C-17 cargo aircraft two days ago at a nearby airport was a blast again. Throw in the joy on a 12 year-old subject’s face (bottom) or the twelve catch-light’s in the Army football player’s eyes (below), after I’ve shown them an image from our portrait shoot lit with a single strobe and the fisheye lens, and I’m sometimes literally dancing on air. Here’s a few favorites from the last few days…  ~cg.
