Chet Gordon is a staff photographer at the Times Herald-Record in Middletown, NY. He’s been a newsphotographer for nearly 20 years, including stints as a staff photographer at three NYC / NJ area newspapers & as a photo editor at the NY Daily News. His work has also appeared in The New York Times, International Herald-Tribune, USA Today, Army Times, Wall Street Journal and BusinessWeek, among others. A former U.S. Marine, he served honorably in the mid-1980's, including 2 years on Okinawa, Japan. A longtime volunteer & travel junkie, he accompanies several humanitarian aide clients on their international disaster relief & medical missions. Since 1997, he's worked in Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa, Senegal, El Salvador, Honduras, Haiti, Jordan, Kosovo, Albania, Gaza, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, Russian Federation, Venezuela, Paraguay & Afghanistan. He's seen here in Vladivostok, the Russian port city on the Sea of Japan after completing an 11-day Trans-Siberian Railway journey, 9,288 kilometers (5,771 miles) from Moscow in June 2005.
